HAYLEY McINTYRE, B.SC.

SCIENCE communicatoR AND ILLUSTRATOR

As a Science Communicator and Illustrator at Fuse, Hayley applies her background in fine art, design, and earth sciences to distill technical complex information into clear, visually compelling, and accessible formats. She believes that visual communication and illustration are the perfect medium for bridging the accessibility gap that exists in technical and science communications, and in bringing the joy of curiosity and scientific learning to everyone.

Hayley has always found fulfillment in the big-picture connections between things, and in the ‘why’ that drives science. Prior to joining Fuse, she worked as a field geologist and spent most of her time collecting rocks, planning, managing, and executing complex field programs, and making geological maps across British Columbia, Alaska, the Yukon, and Nunavut. Distilling geological information into compelling geological maps, cross sections, and presentations gave Hayley her first taste of science communications. She also draws on other diverse past work experiences in youth outreach, coaching, complex project management, as well as her current freelance graphic design and art practice.

Hayley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of British Columbia.
