NAKITA RUBULIAK, B.SC.

SCIENCE WRITER AND ILLUSTRATOR

Nakita is a Science Writer and Illustrator at Fuse, where she supports different knowledge synthesis and illustration projects.

Nakita believes in creative approaches to solving real-world issues and strives to connect others to science. These interests guided her bachelor’s degree where she was particularly interested in the human dimensions of environmental topics. Throughout her degree, she gained research experience in both the social and natural sciences while holding several executive roles in her program’s students’ association.

Before joining Fuse, Nakita’s love of the outdoors and bushwhacking drew her to various field technician roles in the French Alps, Rocky Mountains, and Alberta’s Boreal Forest and Northern Foothills. These positions gave her unique on-the-ground insights into ecological monitoring and expanded her interest in the broader applications of this work.

In addition to her passion for science, Nakita nurtures her artistic background in both her spare time and in the workplace. She strives to take her artwork to the next level through creating illustrations that are both informative and tell a story. Nakita is excited to bring her experiences, unique skill set, and personal interests together at Fuse to help connect knowledge with practice.

Nakita holds a BSc in Environmental and Conservation Sciences from the University of Alberta and has dedicated a lot of her free time to volunteer projects. Recently, she spearheaded a collective art project of over 25 artists to celebrate parks and protected areas in Alberta.
