SONYA ODSEN, M.SC., B.SC.

ECOLOGIST AND SCIENCE COMMUNICATOR

Sonya Odsen combines a background in ecology with a love for education and communication. She believes that by improving the accessibility of knowledge and research, we empower our audience to connect with issues and make informed choices.

Few things excite Sonya more than an opportunity to bring information to life in engaging, clear, beautiful and new ways. She brings her zest for clarity to every project, from carefully organizing and designing technical documents to illustrating scenes and subjects that convey information more vividly than blocks of text alone. Since 2016, Sonya has used her skills and passion to bring to life projects including knowledge syntheses, interpretive signs, infographics, briefing notes, operational guides, websites, and more.
Highlights of her career to date include synthesizing forest management recommendations for bird conservation in Alberta, mobilizing research for multiple landscape-level research projects, and her very first interpretive sign project located at beautiful Bunchberry Meadows near her hometown of Edmonton.

Sonya completed an M.Sc. in Conservation Biology and a B.Sc in Environmental and Conservation Sciences, both at the University of Alberta.
