RACHEL TIESSEN, M.ES.

Intermediate Forest Ecologist

Rachel is an Intermediate Forest Ecologist at Fuse, where she combines her passion for forests with her expertise in environment and sustainability to support diverse forestry projects.

With a deep understanding of the pivotal role forests play in addressing climate change, Rachel applies her skills and knowledge to make a tangible impact. Her compassionate approach to complex projects fosters meaningful research, collaborative partnerships, and innovative solutions to environmental challenges. Rachel specializes in synthesizing research, making it accessible and practical for a wide audience.

Before joining Fuse, Rachel engaged in a wide range of research projects spanning soil
biochemistry, entomology, species conservation, and forestry. From fieldwork safeguarding endangered turtles in Ontario to studying biodiversity in the Amazon rainforest, her comprehensive understanding of ecosystem dynamics allows her to contribute effectively to various projects. Notably, Rachel conducted a climate change vulnerability assessment and led the development of an adaptation and mitigation plan, outlining strategies for resilient and sustainable forest management.

Rachel completed her Masters in Environment and Sustainability (MES) and a BSc in
Environmental Science, both at the University of Western Ontario.
